Achim Fiedler, born in Stuttgart, first studied violin with Saschko Gawriloff and chamber music with the Amadeus Quartet at the Cologne Academy of Music. Following a violin grant to the London Guildhall School, he continued his training by studying Conducting with Franco Gallini in Milan and Thomas Ungar in Stuttgart. He was subsequently invited to be a Conducting Fellow in Tanglewood/USA at a master-class held by Seiji Ozawa.
Soon afterwards he became an assistant with Bernard Haitink and Carlo Maria Giulini. Achim Fiedler received the Herbert von Karajan grant in 1997 and was an award winner in several international conducting competitions including, in 1996, 1st prize in Cadaqués/Spain. He conducts numerous orchestras: the Dresden "Sächsische Staatskapelle", the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Radio Philharmonic of the NDR Hanover, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and the orchestras of Sevilla, Barcelona and Gran Canaria.
